Any boom operators/aerial refuelers here?

I'm an Airman considering cross-training into this specialty. Is there anyone here with knowledge of this job who I could ask a few questions?

That's what was wondering, maybe he's with, or considering the 171st ARW ? First "hop" I ever took was on one of thier older KC-135's back in the 80's from RAF Bentwaters to PIT.

If he is in the 171st he wouldn't be asking here.
If he isn't... the odds of getting a boom slot as a traditional is a long shot unless he is a minority... or actually a women with big bewbs....

A boomer does Loadmaster duties too, IIRC. However, on a tanker he won't do airdrops and SOLL2!

This is true. There are benefits to both jobs. The low level and airdrop thing does seem exotic to me just like doing AR would be for a load. Grass is greener, etc.

A fate worse than death! I've heard both shirts and chaplains are warned at their respective schools about the challenges of MXGs and SF sqdns.
