Pilots that use IPAD in the cockpit, which GPS do you recommend?
I am looking at the Bad Elf or the Dual Electronics Bluetooth GPS.
Which one do you prefer?
I use the Dual

Does it work well? Do you fly with the IPAD on your leg? Which software do you use?
Thanks
I use Bad Elf in my Iphone. Works great. The complaint that I have heard with blue tooth is about it getting turned on accidentally in storage and the battery is dead when needing to use it.

I have had no problem with it. I set it on the glare shield and usually have the ipad on my leg
or sitting on the right seat.
iPad2 has integral GPS. On my yoke mount in the 182.
I went with the Bad Elf. Now the wait for shipping starts

There is also an extension cord available for the Bad Elf that allows you to put it on the glare shield and keep the ipad or iphone in your lap or on yoke.
The bad elf just came in the mail. I plugged it in and it works great.

I use no gps usually. Ipad2 with 3g works just fine up to fl410
I have a MFI 5870 for planes where i cant get reception due to the airframe. I turn it on and chuck it on the glareshield.
My 4g iphone with Foreflight usually works fine on the glare shield of King Air without Bad Elf. If it has trouble finding itself I just plug in Bad Elf and in a few seconds its going. I have a suction cup holder that can be attached to side window. I also have solar charger/battery just in case I need it. Most I fly have cigarette lighter plug, some don't. Using Bad Elf drains battery much quicker than without.
I'm using an iPad2 (Wifi only), Foreflight, and the Dual GPS. I tested my wife's iPad1 3G and it would loose signal from time to time with the internal GPS. I like the Dual since there are no wires, it does not drain the battery of the iPad, and it is not in the way when sticking out of the socket. Of course, you need to make sure it is charged since it has its own battery. I can also use it with non-Apple devices.
I fly with an iPad 2 and no external GPS. I haven't had any problems with GPS signal, but I will probably get the Dual sometime this year, assuming I can get back to flying (recovering from LASIK). As for where I put my iPad, I have 3 different leg straps/cases I use.
