I did see a guy lick the whole damn cigar before lighting it at the lounge a couple of years back...
He promptly poured Macallan 18yr over a full cup of ice immediately after that.

No worries....there is a resemblance.
And as an answer...I usually wet the tip slightly before I make my cut with either a slice or punch.
It makes a cleaner cut in my opinion by helping to deal with a crispy, tight or just a plain old stubborn cap.
