AR 15 mod done on the show

This is my first post, so please be kind.
John did what looked to be a quick mod on an AR 15 that reduced leakage of smoke. There was a slow motion of the shot before and after that showed smoke from somewhere around the delta ring or front of the bolt in battery.
He did the mod, explained it, and showed the difference when fired, in slow mo.
Can ANYONE help me with this mod?
It was not gas to piston mod.

This is the Adams Arms Gas Piston retro fit. Works great. They have a forum here on ARF.com
