Now from what I understand how the Electorial College works is votes are determined by the districts for each state from the House of Representatives IE Wisconsin has 8 districts so 8 votes. And how the general election that we all would participate in is a Popular Vote of who we want for President. Yet the Popular Vote is not a direct result of the Electorial College but should be influnced ie Bush 43 won the electorial college votes but not the popular vote and a similar situation with the 19th President Rutherford B Hayes.
Now pending all of my facts about the Electorial College are correct, I ask this question
If President Obama wins the Presidency but does not win the popular vote, Will all (at least the republican party) asking for reformation of the electorial college making the Popular vote a direct relation to the electotrial college vote.
If my facts arent exact on the electorial college please set me straight, its been several years since my Poli-Sci class
I believe that without an Electoral College, our Representative Republic form of government would cease to exist.
Whenever I hear discontent regarding the EC, it usually comes from some Progressive democrat who represents the larger coast states where the larger "Democratic Plantations" are usually found.

First post... Again...
EC is a check and a balance.
In fact, we should go back to State legislatures appointing/electing Senators. Popular election of Senators has skewed the balance of power in the US Congress.

Better go read Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 again.
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress:
If a state has 8 representatives, it would have 10 electors, 8 reps + 2 Senators = 10 electors.
