Set in Mississippi in the 1960s, the movie is about am aspiring author who writes a book about black maids working for white people using interviews with the maids as the content.
I was impressed with the movie. The acting and production quality were excellent. It had some laugh out loud funny moments as well. While there were some deplorable white characters, there were some decent, even heroic ones too. To me, the movie almost seemed like a next generation of The Color Purple, which I also liked a lot.
I give it an 8/10.
