"A Princess of Mars" is one of my all-time favorite books. This movie has been in development since the 1930's, apparently. We'll see if Pixar can do it justice.

Trailer: http://disney.go.com/johncarter/?cmp=wdsmp_jcm_url_dcomjohncarter

Initial Impressions: visually impressive but not sure where the story is going compared to the novel. John Carter was a badass, his Earth physiology making him stronger and more agile on Barsoom, but I don't recall him making 50' leaps.

Pixar has yet to make a movie I didn't at least enjoy, and their best ones are among my favorite films of any genre.

I have pretty high hopes for this one.

This, I'm really looking forward to their foray into live action. I'm hoping for greatness.

Opposite of most movies anymore, the more I see and read about this the more I want to actually spend money to see it in the theater. And looking at some of the scenes in this trailer, I'll be damned if I'm not considering seeing it in 3D.

It has been a while but I do recall the ability to make amazing leaps, the Green Martians made him do so for the amusement when they first captured him.

Entirely possible. Been a couple of decades since I last read them. It seems more fantastic to see it than read it, probably.

Jeez, I heard this movie was in developement by Disney 3 or 4 years ago. So I take it, it's going to be animated and not live action? A little disappointed if so, but it has some potential if it's being made by Pixar and all. This was discussed on here awhile ago, short of a live action X-rated version alot of people are gonna be disappointed.

I'm glad a younger generation is gonna get to be exposed to Edgar Rice Burroughs and John Carter though. Considering this comes from the 30's and earlier, it's nice that every generation get's to rediscover these stories, kinda like Tolkiens Middle Earth. At least in this day and age we have the movie technology to do them at least technical justice in bringing them to the screen.

Here's hoping this doesn't end up sucking in a big way.

Edit: Some how I managed to miss the trailer link in OP. Looks like it is live action so please excuse the first part of my post. Looks promising.

I've been looking forward to this for years, and I have read the first five books in the series. It's a fantastic series of novels with a great message for it's target audience. The trailer looks terrific and I can't wait to see this on opening day in the theater.

I think it will be a pretty good adaptation, but I question how well it'll do among the jaded yet simple Facebook folk of the 21st century.

With any luck, the screenplay will be decent enough that it bears rewatching on home video.
