Just saw an add on TV- "Atlas Shrugged" on BluRay/DVD available Tuesday. Don't know the availability. Anybody see it in the theaters when it came out? Worth buying?

Bump. I was about to post the same thing. Thinking about pre-ordering the DVD on Amazon.

I saw it in theaters and at the wife's request, have already ordered it from Amazon on Blu-Ray. Very good film in my opinion, did a good job of capturing the novel, even if it was low budget.

+1

If you have read the book, you will really like it. If you haven't, it may be hard to keep up with. It is the first 3rd of the book.

Order it direct from the production company here:

I ordered 3. One each for my brother, my sister, and me.

Part 2 is planned for theatrical release in October 2012. Just before the election.

Whether parts 2 and 3 ever get made is probably dependant on how many DVD's they sell and how much they have to share the profits with middle men like Amazon.com

Its not Citizen Cane or Casa Blanca, but its good. Much better than the Hollywood elite critics would have us believe.

I didn't get a chance to see it in theaters, but pre-ordered the dvd on the first day.

I was disappointed. The dialogue seems form fit and packaged with no flow (Granted, it was kind of Rand's style).

The actress who played Dagny was so hit and miss with line delivery, there is no question why she has never acted in anything big before.

However, casting for Hank Rearden was spot on. An extremely convincing portrayal and personification of the book character. The graphics were well done for the low budget as well.

The entire thing had a weird, anachronistic feel to it; trying to stay true to the original while also modernizing it, did not do it justice.

I'll watch it again, and I really wanted to like the movie...unfortunately, I wouldn't want to show this to anyone who hasn't read the book because they would have no idea what was going on.

Does anyone know why this was never widely released in theaters? It looks like it was only released in a few hundred theaters vs a couple thousand like a more mainstream film.

I watched this yesterday and have to say I'm a bit like WTF? I'm hoping they make the part 2 so I'm not left hanging.

I pre-ordered it on blueray. I enjoyed it and thought it a good way to get people to read the book.
