Losing sound on one side
I have an old Carver receiver that I just realized was weak on the left side. I tried playing w/ the speakers/wires. In every combo, the left was the weak one. Right now I've just turned the balance way to the left to make left and right equal.
Is this the death knell for the Carver?

ETA: if you turn the balance all the way to the left, it's also a bit crackly.
Try re stripping the copper heads of the wire for that speaker. Also make sure it's not wired out of phase which will make it sound muffled.
Nope. Not out of phase. Also tried restriping the wire. Didn't help.
