I'll have it Friday afternoon as well. I know that Lucas insists on fucking with it, but whatever.

Please for the love of Vader, don't let me/us know there are all kinds of extra's on it that I just need to see. I'm so F'n tired of
the movie industry making everyone buy a new format-That I don't need/want-to get the better version.

I was going to say FUCK YOU LUCASS! and skip it, but there are so many extras and features I just can't resist it.

I've been debating back and forth on this. I just wished they offered the theatrical cuts.

Nope. Maybe separate Blurays of I, II and III (even though they suck donkey ass), but the 'improved' originals? NO thanks.

Off work at 11:30 tomorrow and hitting Best Buy. If all goes well I'm rolling VI, V, I, II, III, and then VI straight through.

We need to stay away in droves of anything that doesn't stick to the original films.
But it isn't going to happen.

Not just no, but...

I thought about protesting the changes by not buying the release, but then I realized Lucas wouldn't bother to wipe his ass with $79. Besides, I don't own the movie on DVD, so... what the hell I'm buying them.

ETA: My desktop background is Darth Vader, for crying out loud.

You guys do know you can get re-mastered versions of the original films with ZERO of Lucas' 'changes'?

I am finishing them up now.

just watched Phantom Menace on blu ray tonight. I liked the changes. CGI Yoda was much better than the creepy puppet from Phantom Menace (i'll reserve my judgement of replacement of the classic puppet til i watch empire), and there were other little added things that i noticed... overall it looked really good.

He replaced the Yoda in Empire? One of the reasons the EpI Yoda looked like crap was because he was surrounded by CGI and he really stood out. That isn't a concern in Empire.

Ah, fuck it. I've been on the fence about buying this but I'm gonna wait until used sets start popping up.

Yes. When they did "A New Hope" again. When Luke and Leia are fighting troopers and about to swing across in that tunnel thing (right before she kisses him). Original? Laser. Remake? Shotgun.

Negative, TESB puppet Yoda is still there.

Actually, TESB has been pretty lucky when you look at all of the things that Lucas has changed. I can't think of anything too major that has been done to that movie.

I'm not sure if its a new change or not, but when Han chases the stormtroopers in the Deathstar in IV and then turns around when there are a bunch of Stormtroopers, there are now a FUCKLOAD of Stormtroopers where he turns around.

Also, Obi Wan's "scream" that scares away the sandpeople on Tattoine now sounds a lot like a complicated, drug-free childbirth at the end of a tile hallway.

Nah, that was on the DVD.
Thanks for clarifying about Yoda.

So, any Easter Eggs been found yet? I've heard a rumor that at least parts of the Holiday Special are hidden away.

I will NOT be purchasing the adulterated Blu-Ray versions. Lucas has completely ruined the original films (the "pre-quals" are horrid, and do not factor into my consciousness ).

Lucas added scenes, re-framed scenes, added CGI, deleted frames and even deleted and added dialog, messed with the color, and royally screwed the films up so bad, that they really are different films from the originals, and I refuse to buy into that.

Lucas testified in front of the U.S. Congress about the importance of preserving American films for future generations, but has also gone on record and stated that Star Wars is HIS movie, and he can do with as he pleases, including making changes that he says cannot be undone––Lucas stated that the original negatives were altered for the 1997 special editions, and that no original print exists, so it is impossible to restore the films. However, that is likely bullshit, as I doubt Lucas does not have a technicolor print stored away somewhere, and there are at least a few technicolor prints in private collector hands, which could easily be scanned and mastered onto Blu-Ray, for a few thousand dollars.

Lucas simply has some agenda no one really understands, and he is spitting in the face of the films' fans, he refuses to respect the historical nature of the original trilogy, and he disrespects the efforts of the artists and craftsmen that put their heart and souls into making three excellent films. Unfortunately, Lucas holds all the cards, and until he dies, and someone else is in control of Lucasfilm, I highly doubt we will get a pure release.

Until then, I am going with "Harmy's Despecialized Versions", and even though those have some minor faults as well, they far exceed any of the garbage Lucas has put out to date for the home market (the LD and VHS versions notwithstanding, though those had color timing issues, and others as well, they at least were not ruined with CGI and excessive editing).

I haven't watched these movies in many, many years. I'd forgotten how good these stories are. You guys can complain all you want. I'm enjoying them. Then again, I like Jar Jar Binks, too.

WOW!, the video quality is fantastic.

The sound is super clean and clear.

I have a new pair of headphones, too, Denon AH-D2000. They are comportable and have great sound - very flat and uncolored.

Well, that killed whatever credibility you could of had...

But, I do have to agree with you.

A buddy has the set and he let me borrow the original Trilogy. The video and audio are incredible.

I probably will buy it when used sets started popping up.

I don't worry about credibility on this forum. It's the internet.

I've watched EP I through IV and I enjoyed each one of them. I can't speak for picture quality as I still have a tube tv (Sony Wega 36in). I can talk about the sound and all I have to say is WOW!

I'll be watching EP V - VI shortly.
