My wife saw a woman walking across a parking lot eastbound but looking toward the south dipping her finger on her tongue to make crosses on her forehead. She said the woman did it at least 10 times or more while she could see her.
It was around 12:30 and the woman was wearing some kind of head covering ,but it may have been cause it's cold.

It sounds to me, in all seriousness, more of a case of crazy than a religious custom.

That's no Catholic custom. The proper Catholic custom when crossing the street is to stop, look both ways, and cross when it is safe. It sounds like she has a bit of OCD, or she was trying to clean something off her forehead.

I know it's not a traditional Catholic custom ,but I know they have all kinds of different rites. So I was asking if that was a Catholic Italian custom.

I need to work on being more descriptive.
