I have volenteered for two deployments and hope to get picked up for one of them. I need to start figuring a budget on paper to make it easier for my wife to pay all the bills while I am gone. Can anyone look at this and make sure I have everything correct?

OEF Pay
Base Pay - $2,800.50
Family Seperation Pay - $250.00
Immiment Danger Pay (Combat Pay) - $250.00
Hazardous Duty Pay - $225.00
BAH for my home zipcode $909
No BAS

MOB Pay
Base Pay - $2,800.50
Family Seperation Pay - $250.00
BAH for my home zipcode $909
No BAS

You will get BAS while you're deployed and that will be about $320 a month and then when you get home and file your travel voucher you will get $100 per month of SAVE pay or hardship duty pay for Iraq/Afghanistan. I'm looking at my pay now and that is it but the big thing is that it's all tax-free.

Don't forget the Savings Deposit Program - guranteed 10% annual return.

FSA and your other special pays are found money, you should be basing your household budget on your standard pays.

BAS? I wouldn't have guessed that.

Really getting hopeful. Had another unit send me an email looking for combat arms augmentees.

pretty simple -keep paying all the bills the way you are and ignore the presence of additonal funds in your account- then return home and take a real nice vacation with the misses. Between all the little extra allowances and tax free status it takes the sting out of deployment a bit. Of course you get BAS- your family still has to eat right?

I spent most of my time in back in the 90's. They would pull out BAS anytime we went to the field because it was susposed to be for our food. Guess times have changed.
