Got a friend in training for this and was interested in finding out more on the program/people. Has anyone worked with them in AFG or IRQ? How were you involved? Are they good people doing a good thing or did you end up babysitting them. Google search gives me some bad feedback from a few years ago but not much lately??

Well, did you look at a lot of the common HTS/HTT sites? Here are some:

And a unclassified HTT handbook

Hope these help!

I worked with a young female HTT member in Iraq. What a piece of blondeness she was.

She kept begging me to take her on missions outside the wire so she could interview Iraqis and report back on atmospherics. Then she really wanted to attend a regular meeting I had with the chairman of the district council. I told her that the guy was a conservative muslim and may not cotton to her in his office, especially since she'd be in a military uniform and head uncovered. But I took her anyway.

When the chai got served she declined to take a cup saying it was against her religion (Mormon). At the conclusion of the meeting, she offered to shake hands with the chairman and he refused. It was getting close to prayer time and he'd have to wash up after touching her. Outside the venue, she started bitching about being snubbed by the guy. I said, "How do you think he felt when you didn't take his tea on the basis of religion?"

For someone who was supposed to be knowledgeable about local customs, she sure was ignorant.
