I remember the article in question mentioned a decent holster that covered the length of the barrel, but I seem to have misplaced my copy of that particular issue when I moved in August (as well as the June '06 issue).

I recently purchased an XD Tactical 45, and since the included holster is pretty much worthless, I need a good barrel-covering holster. I think the holster mentioned in the article was a BladeTech, but I was curious if it left any plastic streaking on the weapon in the test. I had a BladeTech holster included with a pistol several years back, and it didn't really retain the weapon well without leaving plastic streaks on it and causing wear marks on the slide.

I tried posting in the Springfield forum on here, but haven't gotten any nibbles.

I just looked through my stack of SWAT Mags and the XD-45 Gets Down and Dirty article in the July 06 issue shows the pistol in a BlackHawk SERPA holster and it doesn't cover the barrrel completely.

I carry my XD-45 Service 4" in a Bladetech IWB. It has a great hold on the pistol and I haven't noticed any major finish wear on the weapon. I'm sure it will eventually happent though. It's pretty much a given with any holster (kydex or leather). It gives it character. Who wants a pretty, pristine pistol anyway?
