There is also a second league starting up this season that will be a keeper league. Keeper leagues typically require a multi-year commitment, and a lot of the GMs from this league are going to be in the new league too. REMEMBER that the 12 spot is the most favorable spot for our draft - the higher your number, the better your pick.

Entry Fee = $50. Treasurer Sandman67. IM for PayPal/postal address. For PayPal, send $51.81 (that's $50 after the 3.5% PayPal fee).

Prizes: $50 to 3rd Place, $100 to 2nd Place and the remainder (after any MO fees, etc) to the league winner.

League settings can be viewed at the league page (see link above).

Roster:
QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, WR/RB, K, D/ST, BN x6 (15 player roster)
Draft:
$50 auction for rounds 1-3, "regular" snake draft for following rounds. We will use the Yahoo! default draft rankings for the auction.

Auction procedure:
We'll use the Yahoo! default draft ranking as the auction order. Bidding is open, but you can only buy three players. The Commissioner will maintain a spreadsheet while the auction is going to make sure that nobody bids more than they can pay. Max bid will be $48 (leaving $2 for two $1 bids at the end of the auction). I still have the spreadsheet from last season if you want it.

The Commissioner will start a thread here in Sports Talk for the top ranked player and the bidding will commence. After three minutes or so, The Commissioner post "Going Once", wait 30 seconds or so, "Going Twice", wait, "Gone". If a bid comes in before "Gone" it will go back to "Going Once". When that auction ends, we'll start the bidding on the next player. When all 12 GMs have filled three roster spots, the auction will end.

Plan on the whole process taking several hours.

After the auction:
You WILL go to your Yahoo! team page and edit your pre-draft rankings so that the three players you won in the auction are your top three. This way, if you are late for or miss the live draft your team will still get the three players you bought in the auction. Do not screw this up.

Rules changes from 2010:
D/ST return yardage scoring increased from 1 point per 50 yards to 1 point per 25 yards.

Trade protest time reduced from 2 days to 1 day.

Regarding the lockout: I'm more confident every day that the season will be played in full. The Rams & Bears are slated to start training camp on 7/22 (next Friday) and it's looking like a deal will be in place by then.

The first game is on Thursday, 9/8. I don't want to cut it too close, just in case our draft somehow gets screwed up and we need to re-draft.

How about Sunday, August 21 for the auction and Sunday, August 28 for the live draft?

I'm going to update the OP with those tentative dates. 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific has worked in the past, so I'll stick with that.

If anyone has any major scheduling conflict or anything, these dates and/or times can be changed.

ETA - Sunday 8/28 is not available. Saturday, 8/27, 8:30PM is it!

I've been the treasurer since we started this league and there has never been an issue with the money. Unless someone has any objections I'll volunteer to do it again this year.

Houston we have a problem.

The draft times on the Yahoo! site are Pacific Time. 8:30PM PDT is 11:30PM EST.

I guess they limit the number of simultaneous drafts to keep their server performance up.

We are going to have to do something and the time slots are very limited.

Here are our options:

1. VERY late night draft for you east coast guys.
2. Weeknight draft
3. Offline draft (maybe a thread here? maybe a different website? ideas?)
4. Labor Day weekend draft (not a good answer IMO)

What do you think?

Weeknight is fine for me or since it is a Saturday, the 11:30 is doable as well.

I checked again this morning - draft slots are disappearing like eclairs at Rosy O'Donnell's house.

Yes. This is the classic league. We have another league forming if you are interested. It will be a keeper league with a full auction draft. Most of the old time owners from this league are in it (at least 8) and we are looking to fill 2 more spots to reach 12 GM's.
