Fantasy football, who to keep?
I'm trying out fantasy football for the first time this year. Its a
keeper league, where you get to keep one player. I inherited somebody's
team, so I'm undecided weather to keep Peyton Manning or Steven
Jackson. My thought is there is a big gap between the star quarter
backs and the rest, while the top running backs are a bit closer. (but
since you need 2 starters, more of the will be drafted. The league is
on ESPN, with standard rules, 12 teams, I'll be the 7th person to draft.
Is keeping Peyton the best choice, or would you keep Steven Jackson?
Any other tips. I'm reading up as much as I can in the next two weeks.
I wouldnt keep Jackson. Dont get me wrong he is a great player, but he is on a crap team. What draft round would you have to give up to keep Manning?
I wouldn't give up any draft pick to keep manning. We are allowed to keep one player. I'll have to ask what the specific rules are. One person in my league has Drew Brees, and Maurice Jones-Drew. I would assume he would keep Maurice, maybe I could keep nobody, get a first pick before everybody else, and take Drew Brees (who I would argue will do better than Manning.
I know the Rams suck, but every source I read has them drafting Jackson in round 1. I wonder if a rookie quarterback means he will get the ball even more (but with a crappy offensive line, how well can he do).
I asked the same question on another forum, and everybody said to keep manning, but when I read online sources such as ESPN, etc, Steven Jackson is usually listed as the 5th best choice overall, and manning is listed in the 20's for best choice. Even Brandan Marshall is listed as a higher draft choice the Peyton, (who I also could keep)
If Jackson were on another team I would say keep him, but he is on the Rams. You are better off tossing him back into the pot, and taking your chances on a different Running Back in the first round. If you dont have to give up a draft spot, I would keep Manning. Brees will not do much better. I would try to get Gore or Turner with the 7th pick, but that is just me.
