USA Today Coaches Poll is out
TYSONS CORNER, Va. –– Defending national champion Alabama is No. 1 atop the USA Today preseason coaches' poll.
Boise State will begin the season ranked No. 5. The Broncos, like Alabama, finished last season 14-0. They beat TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.
The Crimson Tide got 55 of 59 possible first place votes. The other four went to Ohio State, which is No. 2 in the newspaper's ranking.
Florida is third, followed by Texas, which lost to Alabama in the BCS title game in January.
Virginia Tech was sixth, followed by TCU, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa to round out the top 10.
Nos. 11-15 are Oregon, Wisconsin, Miami, Penn State and Pittsburgh. They were followed by LSU, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Arkansas and Florida State, which will be without Bobby Bowden as coach for the first time in 35 years.
Georgia is No. 21, Oregon State No. 22, Auburn No. 23 and Utah and West Virginia tied for No. 24.
The coaches' poll is part of the BCS formula used to determine its national champion.
Ohio State at @2? WHAT THE FUCK?
Really now? God Damn.
I think Alabama is the consensus for #1. But Ohio State at #2? And both Florida and Texas are replacing starting QB's, kinda suprised either of them is in the top 5.
Boise is returing 20 of 22 starters from last year's unbeaten team, I'd have them higher than #5.
Further proof coaches know jack shit outside their conferences.
I'll bet no coach east of the Mississippi can name 2 players on the Boise State team.
penn state at 14 is pretty good considering they lost heir starting quarterback. i'm glad we finally started scheduling tough out of conference opponents even if it is alabama
LSU @ 16? Well, at least we won't have as far to fall this year.....

ROLL TIDE!

Alabama is a really really strong football team, but they have a long season in front of them. I wouldn't hand over the hardware just yet. Florida's QB Brantley is a MUCH better passer than Tebow ever could be. He does lack the mobility, but by all accounts he is a solid QB, and wont be the weak spot in the team. I think the BSU vs. Va Tech game is going to tell the tale for the Broncos. A solid win there and it should quiet the doubters, a loss and their season is done. BTW I really think Florida and Alabama will play at least twice. The second game should be FUN to watch

That is ridiculous. They will be good, but there is no way the get through Miami, Wisconsin, Penn St, Iowa, and Michigan without 1 loss. No way.

I agree with you. I think both Bama and Florida will grow up a lot between their regular season game and a possible SECCG meeting. We know one of us will have at least one loss going in. But it's going to be tough for anybody to get through this season without a loss or two for sure. The SC game the week after we play the Gators(when they've been resting while watching us brawl it out) is one of the most dangerous games I see for us.

Couldn't agree more. Regardless of the outcome of the FL game, we'll be fortunate to win that one. (Not that we
can't, but I'm nervous about that one.)

I wouldn't go that far. It is a game Alabama can't overlook, but they should win it soundly.
