Looking to find a way(free windows based program/utility) to fix/organize my backups. I have a gazillion different folders stacked on top of each other and a lot of them have the same file in them. Much of this comes from work, deploying(back up files from the share drive), redeploy(same thing), new job x4 same thing, deploy/redeploy again, lather, rinse repeat. I've probably got at least 6 different copies of my user profile with
almost the same files in it.
What I would like to do is:
1. Be able to identify duplicate files and folders(dupe by name, file type, last modified).
2. Delete or move those identified files.
3. Not lose what I don't want to lose(will have a back up anyhow)
I'm sick of digging through dupe folders and finding 5 different versions of a PST, 6 copies of FM 6-40, and 5 different folders with ALMOST the same music/pictures/videos in it.
I do have a plan on doing it the old fashioned way, but that is about a FULL day of work.
Thanks in advance

THAT looks like a darn good utility. Has good user and editor reviews on CNET as well.
Thanks

been using this for a while.
duplicate cleaner is the name. might have picked it up on cnet originally. that is the website the software gives.
takes a little time depending on how big it is.
is pretty good at figuring it out even named different or the same.
Tag for future use.
