I'm posting this for a friend that I owe a favor to. If anybody has an idea of what's going on, we'd both appreciate your help!

:
Here is what I am working with
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Edition 6.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
Processor info: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3960X CPU @ 3.30GHz x 12 (4124MHz)
Physical memory available to Windows: 67,083,508 KB
Motherboard ASUS Rampage 4 Extreme
Intel i7-3960X CPU
Memory Corsair 64 Gb of Ram
Blu-ray / DVD burner is ASUS BW-12B1ST
My problem is that I cannot burn anything with 3 different programs "Alcohol 120” "Nero 11” or "Power 2 go”.
I keep getting a Timeout on logical Unit error any time I try to burn something.
I have swapped out the Blu-ray Burner with the exact same unit and still have the same problem.
I was able to put in an older DVD burner and it works just fine.
I
don’t think that both the ASUS burners are bad but there is a
difference now because the ASUS burner are Blu-ray capable and my old
one is not.
I did put the ASUS Blu-ray burner in another computer and it works fine.
My
assumption is that there is a setting in windows that is incorrect or
possible a motherboard bios setting that I am unaware of.
Please help.
Look to see if there is a firmware update for the drive from the manufacturer.
Most likely issue. A. You failed to install the software/driver that came with your blue-ray burner, so it is using generic drivers that will not work with it. B Your blue-ray burner needs a firm-ware update. C. You only have blue-ray reader and your computer installed a generic blue ray burner driver. Also this post should be in the Urban Commandos area, that's were all the computer people hang out.

Will do thanks. The firmware is up to date though IIRC.
