We are looking to hang a TV or monitor 37"+ in our office window to catch the attention of people walking by. I figure an old computer hooked up and I can just run a Powerpoint presentation or similar.
What I am wondering is if there is any reason to not use a TV I'd buy from Amazon vs buying a monitor type deal. We aren't a huge company so I was trying to keep this cheap as it's not THAT important.
I can't see running into any resolution issues, but I figure I'm missing something here.
Part of our business is light industrial staffing and we actually do a ton of work for a kiosk company. I spoke with my contact over there to see if they had a scratch and dent item they couldn't sell regularly (no, not fell off the back of the truck) and he told me he has something and to come see him when I come in Friday to drop off paychecks. I know it'll be real nice, probably nicer than we need. I'm going to talk with him about it too but I'm not sure how much he really knows other than running the assembly side of the business.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks in advance.

Not really, though with a monitor you wouldn't have to worry about overscan issues as much. But they are essentially interchangeable for this purpose. I'd suggest a led backlit display for their thinness and lower energy consumption.
TVs generally have much better viewing angles, and less color/brightness change with angle than most monitors, particularly cheap monitors.
