 Can you tell what generation an Intel I7 processor is by it's model # and if its a mobile or desktop

Model # Core i7-2630QM can you tell from that if it is the mobile or desktop version of the processor and what generation (1 or 2) the processor is?

If it helps it is in this machine... Sony VPCL216FX

The M means its a mobile processor.

The Q means its a quad core processor.

It is a current generation intel mobile cpu.

It did, but as I am not tech savvy enough to decipher the gibberish after googling the chip a number of times, I thought I would save the headache.

Even the link provided above straight from intel does not seem to answer either question in an obvious manner to me.

3 Digits = First Gen
4 Digits = Second Gen
Q = Quad Core
M = Mobile (laptop)
