My daughter wants to hook up her laptop to the family LCD TV. What do I need? I would like to get it from www.monoprice.com, but they have so many cables I don't know what they are called and if I need anything else. Thanks!

Depends on what kind of inputs the TV has.

If it has a VGA input, and the computer has a VGA output as most do, you just need a VGA cable.

Thanks for the start, but don't I need this:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10201&cs_id=1020105&p_id=558&seq=1&format=2
So I can have the audio as well?

Yes. If you want Audio you need an audio channel to go with VGA. You don't need an integrated cable, any old patch cable for audio will do.

But, like the other poster said, this ENTIRELY DEPENDS on the inputs on your TV, and the OUTPUTS on the laptop. Until you have both sets identified, you are just wasting yours, and our time.

So go look. Or take pictures, or whatever.

If both are new, chances are you need an HDMI cable and that's it. But, it depends on your equipment.

Both are relatively new (last 12 months). The laptop does not have the HDMI connection, but both do have the VGA connections. I now think I know what she needs. Thanks!

VGA cable for the video, and probably a stereo 3.5mm plug to dual RCA plugs cable to go from audio output from the laptop to line inputs on the TV if you want audio also.
