Shot these today, nice trip across the Mississippi Sounds.
Nikkor 14-24mm

Wow. Haven't shot much wide this last year. These are from a year ago. Been working on B&W/ monochrome conversions recently.
D700, 14-24 at 15mm, slight crop due to straightening the horizon...
D700, 24-120 at 24mm, cropped for 16x9 aspect ratio...
Did you do that first one using HDR? Clouds kind of have that look?

No HDR. In LR3, converted to bleach bypass, then B&W green filter, then some adjustments to contrast, clarity, and black levels and then saved in grayscale after resizing in CS5. Color 8x10 is
here for comparison.
Nice. I like the perspective on this one.
Sweet train shot.
(note to self... start doing more trains.)
Beautiful scene in the second shot.

I'm going to have to play around with that. It exposed a lot more depth and detail than the color shot. I've never done much with B&W except a quick change in Aperture.

Lightroom has quite a few presets, and the same B&W preset will look different if you make some major adjustments to the color image first, like bleach bypass or cold tone. I stink trying to use sliders for doing monochromes, so I've been experimenting with using the filters/ presets in combos and making adjustments to taste.
