A first for me - two twenty-somethings in VFFs passed me in the first quarter mile of the race. Never been passed by anybody wearing those things.

Fortunately for me, they paced like crossfitters and I got them both back well before the first mile marker.

He ran a really fast 800M though

Actually I didn't catch the second guy until about 3/4 of a mile in. Got a nice double-take from Mr. Planet-of-the-Apes-shoes when this fat old man went past

Ha ha...we do pretty good at those 400s and 800s

The worst though is the Marines...man they take off like a bat out of hell...then I usually catch them about a mile in or less as their huffin and puffin just trying not to die...

Apparently some people have never read the tortoise and the hare...

You can't gun a 5k. I know how to pace it. I usually will run a 5k a week or so before a race so I know how to pace myself. And, this 5k will be ran on hilly terrain.

Tortise? Dude, I ran sub 7 pace - yeah not great and I've run it faster. Maybe more like the hare and the grayhair

Well, you know what I mean...I'm about the same pace for a 5k. When you compare that with the retards that start out at a 5min pace then gas 800m later, we're the tortoise and they're the hare that really overestimates their own fitness level

I know - just funning. I was worried that I was going out too quick too, so I let all 20 "fingers" go past. I wouldn't have liked my chances against the faster guy at 400M

I always say "I might not be fast, but I can last"

Yeah, running has never been my thing...I have a decent 400 (not compared to actual track athletes of course) and everything just gets worse as it gets longer...oh well.

Feel free to mock my pullup ability. It was never great, but after 6 months of virtually no shoulder use in 2010-2011, I'm abysmal now.

I would never...I only mock those who don't squat with full range of motion

Is parallel full ROM?

I went into the gaurd after a two year break I was pretty sure I was going to fail my 2 mile run and decided if I was going to fail it was because my best wasn't good enough. Ran as hard and fast as I could from the very start and passed. For more than a year that was how I did my 2 mile runs until one PT test I wasn't motivated at all and decided to take it easy. I ended up setting a heck of a PR and missed my end basic run record by 3 seconds. I learned the value of pacing myself that day.

Outrunning people half your age on PFT is also very rewarding.

Depends who you ask- IMO no, the femur should just be barely below parallel. The measurement is the crease of the hip below the knee cap which comes out to just below parallel.

In my experience only the newbies do that. At my old crossfit gym all the new guys that had the "I can't get beat by a chick" mentality would sprint out to get ahead of all the girls a couple of which were former collegiate runners, and I would just cruise behind the ladies laughing in my head.

It may be people who dont run very much, but that makes up the majority of the 5 finger crowd, doesnt it?

The rabbit got to take two naps, eat, and was still competitive. Sounds like the real winner imo.

Hmm...that's an interesting point.

In this context competitive is a politically correct euphemism for loser.

The way I look at it, the rabbit got 2nd place while the tortoise came in next to last.

Slow and steady baby!

I'm built like a fucking ape, I could probably run faster on my hands.
