The only thing around is candy

I'm trying to get in better shape and working 12 hour nights makes it difficult because I'm very inactive on the pc. I get pretty hungry near the end of my shift and there is a drawer filled with candy. My question, are calories from sugar better than no calories?

If you are a skinny guy trying to put on weight candy is better than nothing but I would imagine that's not quite the case here.

Ditch the sweets and eat real food.

I'd go without. There is absolutely nothing good in refined sugar. Nothing. There's plenty of bad though.

If you get that hungry towards the end of your shift, take a few almonds with you.

Will power. Come the fuck on man. Bring a soft cooler with some carrot sticks. Bring a small tupperware with some almonds. Bring an extra protein shake in a nalgene bottle. Make sure you stay hydrated. (Thats bigger than you think, the combination of boredom and thirst will make your brain want to snack)

If its a community junk food drawer at work, then you pretty much are reliant on yourself not to indulge. If its your own desk, your own junk food. THROW IT THE FUCK AWAY. The act of dumping that garbage in the garbage will empower you.

I never knew almonds were so healthy. I'll have to try it thanks for the tip.

+1

Pack a few nuts, or some coconut milk, or some veggies.

Sugar is horrible for you.

Raw almonds now. The roasted/salted kind have a ton of extra salt.

+1 on what the others have said.

If you don't have access to a fridge just bring a small lunch box or cooler, like someone else said.

I also work 12 hr shifts and I store a bucket of cottage cheese and a bag of carrots in a fridge.

Get almonds still in the shell if you can, the act of cracking them open while eating slows you down and you don't wind up accidentally eating 400 calories of almonds in 3 bites.
