 Major Hardware Upgrade - 9/12

We will be working on servers today and making significant changes to the back end structure.

A new primary server will be installed in the database cluster to handle all heartbeat functions for the site. The current server has been unable to handle the load, which has recently caused a noticeable delay in load and wait times. The old server will then be retasked to help with processing load for website operations.

This work will require the site and a number of related services to go down for some time. We apologize for the necessary down time and will do our best to ensure it is as short as possible.

Sorry for the extended down time, but it was essential to ensure stability.

I did very little testing since it's almost 4am and I just got through all the cleaning and setup. I will continue working on things tomorrow and if there is a need to take the site down again, then unfortunately we will.

At this time we're finishing some ad server work, but it should be sometime in the morning. It may slow up your connection for now, so please understand things will be back to normal soon enough. (Translation, I'm too tired to disable the ads for now or to finish the work tonight.)

Welcome back!

No more than fix it so if you get a jobrelatedstuff.com forum link to team that it actually GIVES you the thread rather than the forum index.

It gets old having to cut/paste the jobrelated URL and change to ar15 just for the same link to work

Ads are back online.

That should clear up your double back button issues.

Email me your mac problems, I've been getting caught up on things so I may be a little slow to respond, but I will get to it I promise.

Thanks for the hard work. Seems to be running faster now and the need to click the back button on IE has been resolved.

Don't know if it's planned, but the "ar15.com" url has been showing a single page that says the system is down for maintenance for the past three days; still does. I finally figured out to try the "weaponforums.com" url, which got me back here (thank GOD ..., I was starting to go through withdrawals).

Sounds like a cached page. Try reloading it and if that doesn't work it could be cached somewhere along the way.

Does "ak47.net" not work for anybody else?

That's the site I have bookmarked and it's still showing that the site is up for maintenance.

I can take a partial guess to the webserver software:
Windows 2003 Server Microsoft IIS v6.0

The changes that you continue to make to this site are awesome. This is my #1 site to visit on the web. Thank you for such a great place to learn and share ideas.

PS

Is anyone ever going to do an evaluation of the Bushmaster Carbon 15 9mm Carbine that shows on your home page?

Unfortunately the site work has derailed a lot of other efforts at this time. (Including the review!) We have a few reviews in the works, will begin doing previews of upcoming gear, as well as more site upgrades!

This new server will definitely make it easier to focus on other things.
