[Last Edit: Moondog]
I think I ran into the worst primer crimp I've ever encountered today.  I was resizing some .223 brass, and decided to forego the universal decapping die and use my regular sizing die.  After a few hard to decap primers, the pin broke.   I switched to the Lyman decapping die, then it's pin broke!

Has anyone run into a crimp that bad?  I'm thinking of switching over to a Lee decapping die due to the replacement pins being cheaper and available through Amazon.

Update:  I've found some Berdan primed cases in the bunch.  That would explain the pin breakage, however some of the Boxer primed cases had hard to remove primers.

The question in my mind is did you try to decap brass that has been wet cleaned with the primer still in the case?

What is the headstamp? It could be Berdan primed,have an undersized flash hole or an off-center flash hole

Nope.  Just brass picked up off the range.  I have run into wet cleaned brass with the primers left in.  The bottom of the cup would separate, and the cup walls would remain in the primer pocket.

Head stamp is 06-CG-10, with a NATO cross.  maybe Finower Industrie GmbH – Finow, Mark, Brandenburg?

The brass is a mixed bunch, and looking down this case in particular it appears there are some berdan primed rounds!  First time I ever seen berdan primed 5.56...

It appears I have some sorting in order.  There were some other cases with off-center flash holes, though.

CG = “Carl Gustav”

Now part of Nammo, “Nordic Ammunition Company, a Finnish-Norwegian aerospace and defense group”

Found a couple of links on Berdan primed “CG” 5.56 brass (1) (2)

And rounds (3)

The worst are the DEEPLY staked primers.  It makes it more difficult to ream out the crimps.

I have a Dillon primer pocket swager that makes light work out of primer crimps
