Switching jobs, and my 2.8ish Delica will no longer be kosher.

The obvious answer is a Kahr Delica, one for $245 on fleabay right now. A Jandelica from 5x5 is the next obvious answer, but I'll be waiting God only knows how long for that at $150.

2 ideas I have.

1. Get a cheap Byrd Meadowlark (Delica size) wharncliffe and grind it myself to the legal 2.5". Any considerations or gotchas? Do I need to keep it cool to hold the temper of the steel? I could also find a Delica and do the same, I'd rather make my mistakes with a cheaper knife though.

2. Find another legal blade length folding knife with a usable handle. I hate studs, they poke you and wear holes in clothing, other than that I am pretty open.

Most definitely yes. Like super yes, you need to be very cautious, grind for a second, dunk it, repeat. Takes a lot longer, got to be patient and have a light touch.

Makes sense. So the grinder should go in the vise (I don't have a bench grinder), and the knife in my hand with a bucket of water next to me.
