I bought one when I was 18

I put a CHOATE folding stock and A2 style flash suppressor on it. Also some PMI 30 round mags

My evil step mother saw it hanging on my wall and went running to my Dad

" He's got a machine gun in his room !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He laughed in her fucking face

.
.
.

I sold it when I went off to OSUT, thought she'd throw it in a dumpster or something.

I bought another one a few years ago.

They are cute, like a tiny Garand.

Yes. Picked up a used stainless "Tactical" for under $500. Used Ruger mags for $15. Couldn't say no.

Not mine, but looks just like it.

It didn't come with the scope rings or the scope mount. I called Ruger CS and said I bought it used and wanted to buy the missing stuff. Guy asked my address and sent me the parts no charge.

Had one (stainless wood stock) and sold it to fund my first AR. Still kinda miss it.

My brother has two -14s and just bought a -30.  Buddy has an accurized -14 with a scout scope that is fun as hell to shoot

For a long time, I passed on them thinking I’d wait until they made a version that uses STANAG mags. That never happened, and prices have doubled.

I might end up with one for fun anyways, but odds are low.

In my 20's I rented a room to a good buddy while he was in college. He had a mini 14 with some bells and whistles.

It shot OK for most purposes. Wasn't exceptional.

Have had three of them over the years, no longer have one and don't plan on replacing them.

I have one, it shoots a little better than MOPP (minute of paper plate).

I have a stainless one I bought in the mid 2000s. I love it. Just about everything the hqters say about it I find to be untrue. Actually, make that everything.

Still have the Mini my father gave me in the '80s. 183 series.
I bought another from an old widow for $250 a few years later, but sold that one.

I don't plan on getting one.

My Dad bought my Mom one of the original issue . I've never owned one . I'd have liked one of the 6.8s if Ruger hadn't gone with the wrong chamber . 6.5 grendel would be nice or even a single stack big-bore . As it is I'm still considering an SCR .

I had a mini and sold it when I bought an AR..I never miss the mini. It was reliable but not very accurate.90's vintage aftermarket mags worked great .

I had one, couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with it.  It was the newer one too.

Traded it in for a DPMS A16 Lite (I think that’s what they called it). I still have it and its a tack driver.

I had one of the first Ranch Rifles that rolled off the line.  It was extremely reliable, and so-so accurate.  Keep in mind the flat top AR had not yet been invented, so if you wanted a scoped .223 the Mini was the go-to.  It would shoot 3-4 MOA with good ball ammo, which is acceptable.  They are now expensive for what they are.

Same picture I always upload in these threads. My current mini is in the Pic. I need a BM59 and a mini 30 for my collection.

My dad had bought one in the mid 90's and still has it.
I shoot my new one and his old one about the same.  But I'm pretty good at shooting,

My dad has the 1976 Bi-Centennial Edition that was NIB, until I put 60 rounds through it a few years back.

I can bring it back in a few weeks.

I've had 4, 1 was accurate, and 1 stacked the brass in a happy reloaders' little pile.  The others launched the brass into the next county, but in fairness were reliable as hell.

I had a blue one in '81, traded for the pictured one in '82, then a stainless ranch model in '83, sold it when I went in the Navy in '84.

Recently decided to relive those days.  Got this one at auction for cheap, has a wood stock now.

Oh yeah, wanted one of these way back then, couldn't swing though, now I can and did.

I have ARs, these are more fun.

1) Get Mini 181 series onwards;

2) Install 10 round factory mag;

3) Install stripper clip guide;

4) Open can of clipped M193;

5) Presto, 5.56 SKS that is 50 state legal - but not in Kanada.

I bought a Ranch Rifle because was easier to mount a scope on. Rifle may be the exception as is very accurate. Never shot it rapid fire to see if it would heat up & string the bullets though. Has taken a lot of eastern Oregon coyotes over the years as I still have it. Remember factory mags were ungodly expensive during the AWB.

Yes, expensive mags and muzzle blast made me sell it.

I had one back in the 90's, after about 20 rounds rapid the POI started to string vertically and the more you shot the mirage off the barrel blurred target through the scope.  First time it happed I thought i had broken the scope.  It was accurate provided you only shooting a couple of rounds each time ie hunting, but not for the style of matches I was doing.

Replaced by an AR-15

I got nervous in 1999 and bought one right before New Year because then I only had a shotgun and a couple of handguns. Yeah, I know that was a silly reason to purchase.

Could't find any full capacity mags on such short notice, so I bought a couple of extra 5 rounders.

Thanks AWB!

Mine had a tendency to jam every now and then, my brother in law has it now.

No

But if I get interested in collecting needlessly complex, mechanically outdated, tactically obsolete the day it was first produced, generally inaccurate, inconvenient to accessorize rifles that have shitty aftermarket mags and are outclassed by literally every single rifle that handles that cartridge I will certainly consider it.
