Go bowling, shooting, a cooking or gardening class. Just find an activity that forces you to get out there. After a bit you will walk out of the dark cloud. You will find yourself enjoying doing stuff. You will find there are many people who will enjoy your company too.

You have done this thread numerous times, it's just been a while. It probably won't go like you want it to and that is pretty much solely due to your poor decisions and defensiveness about them.

Op, be honest with yourself about what you are doing to change your situation. If you struggle socially, are you working to make it better?
Both me and my wife have had real struggles with substance abuse. We’ve been to hell and back. We’re goofballs of the highest order. If we can bounce back from doing everything possible to ruin our own lives, you can too. It’s a lot of work and it doesn’t just end one day. Some days are easy, some are shitshows, most are pretty meh. Acceptance is the answer to your problems. And gratitude is the antidote to your fears. |

OP, I'm 44 and a single dad with two boys. I have been divorced for 9 years and I haven't even been close to settling down with a woman that I'd like to spend the rest of my life with. I've been used by so many women it's uncountable. I realized that time with my boys is more important than anything else on this planet. More important than money or fame (I used to have both). I decided to get hit the gym every day and I got a dog. I wise man whom I know in person and is active on this forum told me to forget about dating and get a dog. Those are words to live by. I have a career, two boys I love and love me back, and a great dog.
