It's sad CA leftists refuse to connect the dots and acknowledge that Democrat policies ruin states. If they were so good.. they wouldn't have left.

I used to say that about winters in Minnesota, that it kept the riff raff out.  Until the communist riff raff took over the state government, drove taxes through the roof and offered all kinds of free shit to all the unemployed bums they could convince to come here from Chicago and such to help shore up their vote hustling operation.

Yep. Minnesota is as cold or colder than MT and if the Bolshevic hordes can make it in MSP, they can make it anywhere.

These transplants are so annoying.  They move here from other states but then they wear or display apparel or stickers from their previous state. If your state is so special then go back.

During COVID, we got sucked into "Yellowstone," watched the whole series, and decided to book a trip to Montana in February 2022 just to see how it is.

We stayed in West Yellowstone and had a blast here. One of the days, I decided to look for a job, just to see who was hiring and what they were willing to pay. I googled a couple of granite spots and a company was hiring in Bozeman. I went in for an interview. They asked me, "What will it take for you to move up here?"

They were willing to pay me my $89,000 a year salary plus moving costs, plus a deposit on the place we rented.

From March to April, within a month, I got the job, we rented the house, and we packed up and moved here.

I grew up in Belgrade, Graduated from Belgrade High School.  Went to MSU and played for the Bobcats in the 80s.  Graduated from MSU.  The 60s through the 80s were wonderful times in that area.  Belgrade, Bozeman and Four Corners were separated by farmland.  Bridger Bowl was still a sleepy townies resort.  You could fish on all the various rivers and spend the day out there by yourself for the most part, even on the W Gallatin.

I have many fond memories of the Gallatin Valley... Heck, who remembers F11 and the Backporch Picken Parlor?

A sleepy little town when i lived there.

Pickle barrel was in a small place right off campus, and had the best sandwiches ever.

I havent been back in years, but last time I was there, everything had changed.  and not for the better.

They noticed people were carrying guns and are looking to make laws so you cant do that

They also see that face to face gun buying is a thing and now want that banned.

With how beautiful the state is and seeing all the trucks they want to create a law to ban trucks and impose a huge tax on fuel to pay for cleaning the environment.

Wind mills and solar panels would be used due to the vast of land available and make no cattle zones so cattle are not killed for food.

It will feel more like home with all of these measures in place

Right before Covid hit, I bought up the last empty 5 acre lot in an older neighborhood NW of Austin. Built a new house, put in a swimming pool and a 40x60 workshop. We were sent home to work and never have returned to office. I get the cold shoulder from my new neighbors probably thinking I’m a Cali transplant but I’ve lived in the Nextdoor town since 1990. The ones I have met seem surprised when I recall events that have happened here from that timeframe.

So they end up buying a place in the shittiest neighborhood of Seattle, going right back to square one, because the guy's wife couldn't handle living in a quiet, crime and drama free area where there weren't enough coffee shops, hip dining locations, and other typical women shit within distance of public transit, and guy couldn't put his foot down.

When was your most recent visit to Columbia City? (Neighborhood in Seattle for non-locals.)  I'd like to see hard evidence it's the "shittiest" neighborhood.  I strongly doubt it.  Very much gentrified. I've worked several games there at Rainier ballpark and the gentrification extends beyond just the retail and restaurant core.  Even Hillman City (the next neighborhood to the south) is showing signs of life.  Or look at Garfield.  Somebody is paying to put their white daughters into club teams who are then the makeup of the high-school team.

These places are simply too near downtown, have some great vintage house bones, and prices are too high to ignore them.

Go look at east Kent, downtown Auburn, Federal Way, SeaTac, Burien. The problems are being pushed farther away; the emerging hierarchy is commute time, not particular neighborhoods.

There is tons of open space south of Crockett. With the exception of 4 running across there and some ranches… it’s about as wild as it gets in the Bay Area. Lots of EBMUD watershed. One of my favorite drives is from Crocket to Port Costa to Briones then down to San Pablo Dam Road. Incredible country and not many people use it. I used to do the 14 mile hike around Briones Reservoir all the time, it was the exception to come across a single person, yet you have well over a million people completely surrounding you. It’s an absolute oasis.

It’s where I got this when I was out there in March.

Couple of thoughts:

- Based on his dress and wannabe gangsta vibe, that guy looks like an asshole. That is what matters, not where he is from.

- The winters aren't that bad here and don't seem to drive off enough people. That said, there's a fresh 3 inches of wet snow on my driveway...

- Certain types of native Montanans are almost worse than many of the transplants.

- I can't decide which I like less...Bozeman or Missoula.

Seabeck Pizza is still good but it's not as good as it was in the early 90's. As far as Braindead Island, I'd like to clear cut it then blow up the bridge. I miss those big shows at the fairgrounds. worked EMS for a few of them.
