Thanks, I almost lost her in 2016 and swore every day she made it past ten was a miracle. She never had to share my attention and I hope a new brat will light a fire under my ass because retirement sucks alone.

Very sorry OP. She looks just like our dog Gracie who passed away (from lymphoma, aged 12 years) on July 27, 2015.

We were almost to the clearing and I looked over and she'd gone limp with her eyes rolled back.

She was my Staff Duty puppy who did barracks and motorpool checks with me before I retired, survived my dive off the deep end after my dad died and stared at me stoically on the bed as the house bounced around us during the 7.1 on 31NOV18.

Sorry to hear that. She looks like a pretty pup man. What was she mixed with? She looks so strikingly similar to our dog it's wild.. but I think ours is lab/greyhound.

She was a field lab from one of the breeders in the Mat-Su valley and another member here has what looks like her sister in his avatar. She could smile, scowl and I swear I made her cry once

She even had the same cyst on her side like the Lab in this gif:

I'm going to try but my appetite for volunteer work is thin. I'm on the fence about another field lab or rescuing a mal but I'll find out soon.

Losing her is a crossroad I knew was coming I just didn't know who I was going to be when I found myself here. I'm definitely a better person because of her and she kept me going when I lost everything.

If St. Peter does not let dogs into heaven, I'm staying in purgatory with my deceased dogs.  That is a heaven of it's own.

I know that feel OP.  We had to put my Madi down just a week ago, after nearly 13 years.

I still havent gotten over it yet.  Sometimes when Im out Ill for a brief second look forward to her greeting me at the door when I get home.  Or have a big glob of food to give her instead of the trash as was our custom.  She was such a good girl, and I thank God for giving her to me and teaching me about love and patience.

It’s been about six weeks since I said goodbye to Rey. Still hurts like Hell but I’m I certainly better off now than I was a month ago. Talking and venting with the folks here probably helped more than going to therapy. Probably because so many here have felt the same pain.

Dogs know nothing but unconditional love. They truly mean so much to us during their short life with us.

I'm sorry man. I know there isn't anything anyone can say to truly ease the pain. Some angles don't have wings, they have paws.

First morning alone and I couldn't snooze without her disapproval. I managed a couple of hours of sleep but without a set of unconditional priorities to wake up to is unnerving. It just occurred to me that today's my 9th retirement anniversary as well
