It included a visit here with Jim and Rocky (sheriff and his deputy, forget which was which) where I was released without being booked. I had hitchhiked for Tonapah to get a wheel bearing and got picked up by a gorgeous young lady with Georgia plates on her car. She asked if I had money for gas and I said "Sure". She made a u-turn and headed back toward town, then made a turn into the city dump after saying she had to go back and get her boyfriend. Thinking I was about to be rolled, I pulled my Schrade fixed blade and told her to stop and let me out. She then became hysterical. The turn off, I later learned, was because she saw the sheriff's car approaching and she hoped to ditch him. Her boyfriend was already in jail and Jim and Rocky took the girl and me in. He was charged with kidnapping (the girl was 16) and stealing the girl's mom's car. They were in love and headed to CA to start a new life. I was let go when they realized we weren't a "gang" and had simply showed up in town the evening before at the same time and spent the night in Goldfield. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/74684/Esmeralda_County__Nevada_courthouse_jpg-3200494.JPGc View Quote |

I've been on the road in the opening scene in "The Shining" (Mt. Hood, OR)
Driven on the finally completed 'bridge to nowhere' in the chase scene in "The Blues Brothers" (Milwaukee, WI) Saw many games at County Stadium, where "Major League" filmed most of the game scenes. Plus, knew the waitress that served the guys in the bar scene. (Milwaukee again) I've been to Devil's Tower, as seen in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (WY) Also, Ferris Bueller ran through my Aunt's neighborhood, at the end of his "Day Off" |

Lots of times. Been to DC, London, Paris, Rome, Istanbul, Athens, Copenhagen, Jerusalem, plus a few dozen other places that were used in movies.
One of the great thrills of traveling is going to places you’ve seen in historic films, documentaries, tv and the movies to get a feel of what it’s like in the area. |

Stood on the beach lord of flies was filmed and took a minute to realize why it looked familiar.
Much of Jurrasic Park was filmed in the surrounding forest. Live near Tombstone, nearer to the film set than the actual town. Grew up a few miles from where we were soldiers was filmed, high school buddy served Mel Gibson at the restraunt he worked at. Also grew up a few miles from where James Dean died. And a few miles from where arachnophobia was filmed. I'm sure there's more, all completely unintentional. |

Several scenes from "Empire of the Ants", the speedboat scenes from "Moonraker", and the terrorist beach landing from "Invasion USA" were filmed in my county.

Lot of car commercials are filmed on the stretch of Hwy 1 around and south (east) of Point Mugu. If interested, I'm thinking there are searchable sources on movie and tv locations so if interested, you could probably chase down quite a few. I wasn't a big fan of MASH so never tried that one. I'm not a great judge of how interesting it might be. Like others here, seen a lot of "locations," some filming, etc., so not as exciting as might be to a visitor. My nephews "in-laws" were thrilled about visiting some of the spots we took them to and saw filming at Santa Monica Pier, etc. |

The bar scene from Maverick: TopGun2.
Buddy was a F-18 pilot in the Marines and got me in contact with the Coronado base person in charge of that venue for my wedding. Back then it was a little shack. Put down $500 deposit but after much consideration, the logistics of getting people on base, to the venue, was too difficult. Great view though! |

Jenny's restaurant was in downtown, etc) View Quote I was down visiting a friend while they were filming spongebob in savannah. They had a bunch of the restaurants on the street renamed to be cartoony-ocean themed names. They are filming a lot of TV and movies here in Augusta, Atlanta, and Athens GA. Our old county jail in Augusta was used for a few movies. It was used on the movie Suicide Squad 2. I had several stays there back in my younger days. There's a big mansion around Athens that gets rented out for weddings and whatnot. They used that as the location for the Netflix Undertaker show. My wife worked on that one. They filmed Clint Eastwood's "The Mule" partly in Augusta. The hotel in the opening scene was the Sheraton hotel. My mother in law in one of the flower vendors in that scene. There's a b-rate Mel Gibson movie called "Agent Game". Some of the scenes were shot in downtown Augusta. My buddies texted me and say they just saw Mel Gibson running around with a gun. The baseball movie "The Hill", I was a part of the production. Much of the movie was shot around Augusta and Warrenton GA. We used 3 or 4 of the local baseball stadiums for the various baseball scenes. I used to go watch our local Green Jackets team play at the same stadium Rickey had his big tryout in. And some of the driving we shot at Steed's Dairy farm, where I take my kid every fall for their little pumpkin festival and petting zoo stuff. Around Atlanta, they shot the Aretha Franklin biopic, the True Lies TV show, and a bunch of the marvel related TV and movies like Shield and Guardians of the galaxy. My sister in law is has been doing a side gig as an extra on those shows. ETA - Some of the other locations for The Hill include the Snow-cap diner, 226 6th street, 230 Walker Street, and 710 Taylor street. That sno-cap drive in was a location involved in a shooting that went viral a couple years back. Marshalls were chasing a Truck with a few meth dealers with warrants. The chase stopped there at the sno-cap where some of them got out and ran (and were caught). Then the truck made it a half mile down the road where it somehow ended up disabled in the middle of the street. Thats where the viral videos are filmed. Dude standing in the middle of the street, having a shootout with police with his AR. |

Around me there are numerous TV and films ongoing. Newnan GA is full of ongoing film Projects - Too many to name at the moment
Currently, there is a significant mock-building of a radio-station with tower base when I drive through Palmetto GA set up for Stranger Things latest season. They were filming on 4-24. I shop at Bradleys in Palmetto - which is the same store featured in multiple seasons of Stranger Things. Oddly the same properties around the area are used in numerous films and TV shows. It is interesting at first until you realize the left is invading your area. |

Original Night of the Living Dead = Evans City Cemetery. I have been there a few times. Last time I did a shot for shot walk from the Cemetery scene. Not much has changed. The house they used in the movie is no longer up. It was filmed a few miles away. The basement scenes were shot somewhere downtown. I don't know where.
Original Dawn of the Dead = Monroeville Mall. I visited about 20 years ago. Some of the stores from the move were still there. The fountain feature was still there. Day of the Dead (I think there is only the Original). Wampum Underground Storage. I have been to the gate. No one was around when I visited. I think they do some special tours now for DOTD fans. |

Many. I lived in Bolivar Tn. where the original Bufford Pusser (Walking Tall) movie was filmed all around our area. His home Selmer is only 20 miles away. The most famous location most would remember is the bar he drove his car into. That bar wasn't an actual bar here but was built specifically for that movie. It's located about 10 miles south of my current location. Many local residences were used in the film and an major part of the movie was filmed in locations outside of Selmer.

No one inside, commented to wife, “yeah they’re in back doing it.” Take better look and I’ll be, they sure were. Wife proceeds to tell me that’s the 3rd couple she had seen that day. One in a cell in the prison and the second, this was good, she walked up to the port-o-potty in the parking lot and opened the door on the second couple going at it. So it’s apparently the place to get some action. But seriously in a freaking port-o-potty, that’s just gross. I however was not so lucky |

Been to some of the actual locations, or in the general vicinity - establishing shots, etc.
We've been watching Shogun lately and the establishing shots I'm like, waitaminute, that looks like the BC coast. Head to imdb. Yup. I'm pretty good at picking out the Vancouver vistas in shows. The infamous house used in "The Exorcist" is in downtown D.C. as pictured in the movie. The stairs next to the house was not as close as they made it seem (it was an entire lot away.
One night a friend and I were at the Crazy Horse saloon which was down the stairs and short walk away, so we parked across the street from the Exorcist house. Coming back at 2 AM as we are walking past the house, the front door opens and out walks a priest. As you can guess we were shocked and yelled at the priest asking what he was doing there!! He simply laughed and got into his car. Yeah, I know cool story bro. |
