Wanna hear some crazy shit? My father was a Boston police officer for 32 years. He forgot to renew his safety certificate in 2005 so they raided his house, seized all his guns, the department took his service weapon, and they launched an Internal Affairs investigation. He could have lost his pension and gone to prison. He's 3rd generation BPD, it's not like he was just some random rogue cop.
He eventually got it all cleared up but found out he had terminal cancer shortly after. He never got his guns out of the storage facility they put them in. I inherited them, but they refused to give them to me because I'd moved to NH. I asked if my uncle or cousin could pick them up (both Boston PD with Class A permits) but was told that if they did, they could only legally transfer one gun to me every three months. To do it legally, it'd take over five years to get all his guns to NH. I didn't want to put them in a position to get in trouble, so paid $800 to have them shipped to a NH FFL and another $300 for background checks for each individual gun.
MA doesn't trust its own police officers to own guns. What makes you think they want the peasants to have them?
It's a beautiful state and Boston is one of the coolest cities in the country (especially if you're young, it's full of college girls), but their attitude towards guns is way over the top. It's like CA, NY, and MA are always trying to one-up each other.
