I understand that many dont know this and it changes (and if you know what it is under various weather conditions, great, please share)  It also matters what the temp is.

So, this is the great "humidity (and temp) in your home" thread.

As we say in Yiddish, sometimes its a "schvits baud"  (a sweaty bath)

We’ve had a lot of rain here… currently upper 60’s temp and humidity %

That’s abnormally humid though, typically closer to 50% on average.

It ranges from as low as 10% in winter to as high as 60% in summer. At 60% I try and lower it with an AC or dehumidifier to prevent mold growing. It doesn't often get to 60.

I do keep as eye out for the lowest days in winter - 10% humidity is a great time to pack up guns and mags and parts for long term storage in airtight containers.

Humidity in the house is pretty the same as outside.
Except when the woodstove is running.

That would wreck my sinuses. I grow orchids and I can't stand anything below 50% myself. I make sure to get a bunch of fresh air to keep it from getting musty.

You better know it here in central Florida, I have a dehumidifier and try to keep it around 50%, it runs most of the day.
The water it collects gets put into my rain barrels or I water the house plants.

68deg, 52%. I try to keep it at 48-50, but it can be tough. Getting an inline dehumidifier when I replace the HVAC.

The fucking worst two parts of the year is fall/spring when the outside temp is roughly 68deg and the humidity is 80+, it’s a real bitch to keep the humidity inside down.

*hvac just kicked on, it’ll drop to 49-50 in a few.

When we replaced our hvac I had them drop down 0.5 ton so the system would run longer and remove more humidity (may not be advisable for every house).
We also have a portable dehumidifier for cool and humid days when the ac doesn’t run.
