10/22 is one of the most fun I’ve had at an outdoor range.

Love my 10/22 as well. Kidd trigger kit, extended mag release, and a grossly over scoped 4-16x 52 "Sniper" brand optic. Really brings small targets into view. We take worn out. 410 hulls and tape them to 2x4. Then we shoot them through the open end. Much fun to be had

But it's no bueno for a 200-yd RFKD, so I'm gonna start testing minimags. |

Mine's a horse's ass; chokes on everything (I've run it wet, dry, bone fucking dry, w/ dry lube. Fuck, I've tried alfredo & parmesan), and is minute-of-cock(blue whale)-ring @ 6 1/3 yards.

It's fun when you get dialed in. I have a single shot, bolt action .22 where I was doing the same thing. I was able to hit thumbtacks at 50 yards. and once shot a fly. That was 30 years ago, and I seriously doubt I could do it today. |

It's 3-12x and has some bdc lines that really aren't too useful for 22. Today I shot a steel plate at 200yards and it was well above the bdc lines to hit it. It's a so so scope. Not really super good for high end target stuff |

My neighbor taught his kids to shoot with a single shot 22. He would place colored thumbtacks on a board and have them shoot them.
He said never walk bare foot near the target area. |

I haven't shot my 10/22 in a long time. Bought in 1988, stock barrel, stock trigger, Williams rear peep sight.
It shoots dime-size groups at 50 yards. 87 million rounds down the barrel with zero malfunctions. Apparently, they don't make them like they used to. |

There was an old guy at a range I used to go to that built this crazy contraption that held a 12ga shell behind steel plate with a .22” hole in front of the primer. He’d set it at the 50yd line and put an unopened soda a few yards behind that. Made for quite the spectacle. |

used to have a factory 10/22 target. buddy and I would go to the 25y indoor range and shoot the tacks out of each others targets dropping them down range.
I ended up selling it because it was boring accurate. there was no challenge |

I had an early stainless 10/22
The accuracy was frustratingly crap. So inconsistent I didn’t even trust it for squirrel hunting so it became a useless gun. Ended up selling it. |

I need to get a .22 or two.

Other than hunting and plinking, why shoot that close?
Accurate .22LRs are way more fun to shoot at 200yds or even more. |

I bought the backpacker stock, replacement buffer and bolt release, bunch of mags, ton of ammo and have only shot it once in eight years. I shoot my Henry .22 every time I go to the range and want to get a 15-22; I think I just keep the Ruger because 1- don't sell guns and 2- it's theoretically a useful gun for scenarios I don't get into. I also am just now remembering I bought a Charger a few years ago and haven't shot that yet either. 🤷 I think the plan was to SBR it, at least it's threaded for when I finally get a suppressor. |

I have 2 done by CPC, and my father was sighting his in, and I was shooting the zipties that held his target backer up.
he got his done too. my most favorite guns I own, the 10/22 is a great staple to have. especially when accurate. |

Welcome to the club. Looks like you have found one the the types of ammo it likes. Now the fever begins to where you want those groups smaller and your scopes get more powerful and larger.
Edit: fun tip… go to the dollar store and buy packs of playing cards and shoot the numbers and suites off them |

But the worst 581 I've ever seen will outshoot a hell of a lot of current stuff. |

Yeah, mine doesn't shoot like that.
It's reliable as all get out, but my Marlin 25n and Mossberg 44 REALLY make it look like a dog in the accuracy department. Guess I should maybe do something about that... |
