Damn, Judas Priest is cool and I'd still go see them, but that photo saddens me on so many levels. Getting old sucks.

Sabaton play 2+ hours  they started early
Preist is now on hour 2
Love them or hate them, go see the metal bands while you can
Saw REO Speedwagen recently, Heart and going to blink 182
They aren’t getting younger
Just bought Maiden tickets again for the first time in over 40 years for October

Halford has to be in his late 70’s man
He still belts them
And the band still plays good, as good as I remember albeit a bit slower

I used to blast "Unleashed in the East" at full volume in the college dorms.

Now I blast it on the way to the doctor's office.

At least I'm still upright.

Love that album.

I didn't know they had a new CD out, and just ordered it.  It's going to be hard to beat Firepower, which is as good as anything they've ever done.

I saw them a few times back in the 80's.

Is that $45 ticket price 2/3rds off because only 1/3 of the band are the original members?

I hated to see KK leave over such petty differences, but I guess at that level, ego is all that is left.  I thought it might mean another band I like.  Then I bought their CD.  I always liked Halford because of his range.  Songs like The Sinner, Beyond the Realms of Death, The Sentinel, Ram it Down, and others where he would sing in the low key, then hit the high notes.  Around Painkiller, he seemed to want to scream every lyric to every song.  He's backed off of that now, maybe he can't hold the high note, but it appears that is what Ripper Owens thinks made him popular, the screaming.  IMO, it wasn't.  The thing that turned me off of KK's Priest, is that Owens seems to be screaming every song.

Seeing the video above, Owens doesn't look to have the showmanship.  I hit pause when Halford left, and haven't been to a show since.  The original JP did well to orchestrate a stage show and play off each other, now it looks like neither band is.  I saw video where Ritchie is more interested in lining up the after show groupies than the show.

Yeah, he was a mean obnoxious drunk.

All this. Imagine being a gay in an early 80s MTV popular metal band.

They have two new young guitarists, and I think a full time drummer (long story) who is somewhat younger than Halford and Hill.  It makes me wonder what they are planning for the future.  New bassist, then a new singer, and move forward, or let Halford and Hill retire it?

After Downing left the band, and Tipton got diagnosed, I thought they should just end it.  Hearing their last two CD's, I'm glad they didn't.  Halford got back to his full range vocals and away from all screaming all the time.  I'm going back to listen to Nostradamus again, and see if it appeals to me now.  I didn't like it when I got it.

Overall, I like just about everything they've ever done CD\Album wise.  There are always a couple songs I feel are weak.

Year ago, after the Tipton diagnosis, I read that they were in the studio recording, I guess what would become Firepower.  It was unexpected that Tipton was involved, but he's still writing.  The article said he had binders full of music they had never recorded.  I wish there was a way to monetize that.  These last two releases seems to me like they are getting back to their roots for the end.

They've never been strong in the South.  I was at the Memphis show that was recorded and put on VHS\DVD.  They didn't show it on the recording, but the upper seats were mostly empty.  They kept the camera levels low.  But they could sell out multiple nights in the North.  At one time, they were the highest grossing act.  The first time I saw them in 1981 for Point of Entry, it was a small venue, but packed.  The show rocked.  Iron Maiden, pre Dickinson, opened, White Snake followed, and Judas Priest wrapped it up.  That was my second concert, and I was still in high school.

Maybe a Dixie Chicks or Creed concert would be your style then. Lol.
Concert was great. I got home late. My ears are ringing and muffled
Seriously though, if you ever wanted to see bands like Judas Priest go now they’re not getting any younger. It was a great show and I enjoyed it. If y’all don’t like Judas Priest then like I said, perhaps a Dixie Chicks or Creed concert is for you
Or Nickelback… There I said it

Pretty good seats for $45. I was able to see Judas Priest from the 2nd row at Welcome to Rockville this year. A few days later I drove to Mobile Alabama and saw them again. Rob can still sing for being as old as he is.  Unfortunately there were alot of empty seats at the Mobile concert. Sabaton did a great job and I always like to hear them live. KK's Priest will be touring with Accept later this year so I want to try and make that show.

Saw them in October of 2022 and going to see them again next tuesday. I think my tickets were like $80 after ticketmaster rape fees.

Queensryche opened for them last year. I've never heard of Sabaton.

They were really good last year. Hopefully they will be good next week. I will be bringing ear plugs this time. Small venue and they are LOUD. My ears rang for 2 days last year.

I love me some JP. Having said that, I saw them about ten years ago IIRC. Rob had trident he was walking around with. It took me a while to realize he was using it as a cane. Maybe he was going through a bad spell or something, but that's when I thought he should just retire.

I was not too far from you in section 3 with my son. It was a great show. Sabaton was outstanding. I had seen some clips of recent Priest shows and wasn’t expecting Halford what he used to be. I was wrong. He belted the songs out almost as good as he ever did.
Great show.

My ears are still ringing.

Okay now, that I find hard to believe. I saw Priest 15 years ago, and Halford didn't sound as good as he did in the 80's.

Saw the Scorpions not long ago. Klaus sounded great, but he shuffled around the stage like a little old man.

He hid it about as well as Freddy Mercury. I have never been one to follow the gossip end of the music industry, but I thought he always had it on pretty blatant display.

My 52yr old brother practically begged me to go with him.  He hadn’t been to a show since pre covid nonsense and was hyped up for it.  He was second row not far from op’s seats.

I told him they’re too old to be living after midnight, 8pm is past their bedtime.  Lol

Scott Travis the drummer used to play with a local friends band a few times a year when he wasn't on tour.  That guy is tall.
