I make a lot of pulled pork during the summer and vacuum seal leftovers to freeze and reheat in the bag.  It's really great and juicy reheated but holy shit is it irritating to vacuum seal it with all the juices that always end up getting everywhere.

I need to watch some videos on these because I just sealed some up tonight so if this solves my problems, it's the perfect timing for an impulse purchase.

or, and hear me out on this one... you could spend $190 and buy a chamber vacuum sealer that doesn't give a fuck if you're bagging water

It's still $189.99 on Amazon. ETA: Actually, different models, C versus A.

the $189 machine is a very good deal while staying somewhat portable at 45lbs, which is 30lbs less than this model

I have a Henkleman Jumbo 42, I didn’t buy it, but its a beast. Needs something looked at associated with the vac pump since it leaks oil. Its heavy as hell at 126lbs and they’re expensive.

yes, with the caveat that they fit or they're a dry good

if it's liquid it of course has to stand up which is gonna limit you.  if it's dry you just put the lid on very loosely and set it in sideways

ETA:  tikki here vacuusucks a mason jar in that same model

Picked it up on Friday, just now got it unboxed.

The instructions that came with it are very lacking so I’m off to the YouTube rabbit hole.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

not really, it's pretty straight forward

remember to fill up your vacuum pump first

you can use cheap cutting boards to fill up space in it when you're vacuusucking something small. (vacmasters come with exactly that, vevor just uses a stainless steel rack that doesn't take up any vacuum space) less time and less wear on the pump.  in that thread i linked to earlier there ought to be an amazon link to the cheapest i've found

and we can assume that's shit chinese pump oil so i'd use it as a break-in oil and change to some synthetic 68 or 100 weight oil fairly soon, which is cheap and abundant on amazon as well

other than that, bag yourself up some water, crush something and then get to doing meaningful vaccusuck things with your new toy

Same here.  Make 150# link sausage on an annual basis, as well as deer processing, fish, wild hog, meat on sale at the grocery store, etc.  USV32 handles it all, runs like a champ, would buy it again in a heartbeat.

where you'll actually notice the difference is the seal around food.  all those fucking corners that didn't get vacuusucked with that food saver because the food wasn't situated perfectly?  those times are over, friend

you can also adjust your time up and down on the chamber, you can get some serious suck going if you run that fucker up close to a minute but there's no real reason to.  i set my time to where the needle buries and stop there

and that satisfying, "PSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH," that never gets old

Oh, I wasn’t complaining. Just a curiosity test.
So far I really like it.

I noticed that the bags that came with it are a little stiffer (hopefully stronger) than the foodsaver bags. Are they all like that?
I have tried to seal shell on shrimp in the past and the sharp little fuckers poke holes in the bags.

they come in different thicknesses

somewhere i've seen little inserts for that kind of thing like they have when you buy something vacuum sealed with sharp edges like bone but if i were worried about that i think i'd just vacuusuck it in one bag and then vacuusuck that bag in another.  a big advanage of how cheap the bags are

Oil pumps are quieted, last longer, & can pull a vacuum deeper.

They do require oil changes.  Usually its only a couple of ounces.  Oil pumps are heavier & usually slower.

I have a vp321.  Absolutely love it.  Prior to that I had the small table top vac master. I used that until the lid cracked.

I got an avid armor usv1 yesterday. It is going back today.  It is slower than my vac master and didn't pull a vacuum I was happy with.
