Looking to see what the current hotness is for adjustable gas blocks. Superlative, SLR, etc.

Options are somewhat limited by the need for an .875, but I figured I’d ask here for suggestions.

Overall setup is midlength gas, carbine recoil. Plan on using H2 or heavier buffer.

I have been and remain a big fan of SLR.  Simple to adjust and they work.

For what I care about, my AERO AGB works fine. It's easily click adjustable with an allen key and will not carbon lock as long as you put a dab of some anti-seize compound on the adjustment pin before you install it. I used Lucas Red N Tacky. It even comes with a spare ball bearing detent and spring. Along with an appropriate allen key.

I got it for like 55 bucks on a holiday sale a few years ago.

When it comes to NEW and HOTNESS, this ^^^

Dialing a bigger or smaller port size is more durable than screwing in a tiny grub screw into a carbon fouled port

Huh, neat.  Sort of like an FN-FAL gas adjustment.  I'm working on a new upper that's likely to get one of these, probably the riflespeed depending on doing some rail length/suppressor mount measuring.

Which adjustable GB’s dial down/ up the port size compared to “screwing” or “pushing” a grub screw into a fouled port?  Is Strike the only one that adjusts the orifice size vs the screw/ push type?

Riflespeed is the answer. That Strike Industries block looks decent, but I doubt it’s a hard use, “greatest” option. Strike makes some solid stuff, but also a lot of garbage. I don’t put them in “serious” tier.

I have a couple of Aero adjustables, they work as advertised.

I want the riflespeed in .875 for an 8.6 blackout build

Got to handle a rifle speed at a recent armorers class seemed like a pretty nice piece. Thinking strongly of adding one to a rifle to test out.

I'm not asserting that the Aero blocks are in the same league as the Riflespeed ones at all, but they don't work that way :) They have a valve of sorts that is click adjustable with a spring and small ball bearing that acts as a detent. I put a dab of Red N Tacky in there when I got it and it has never carbon locked on me.

Why the heck do you want to use a heavy buffer if you're going with an adjustable gas block?? The whole point of using an adjustable gas block is you want to soften the recoil so you use lighter components lighter BCG lighter buffer then you can turn the gas down to compensate getting proper injection and no gas in your face

I'd like a .635" for a LW build.

All I can contribute is, from my experience, the Superlative gas block “bleed off” mode is not as effective as the normal “restrictive” mode.

Sometimes, particularly if using a suppressor, you need both mass and gas control.

Somebody gets it.

The current downside to RS is the .875 is not yet released.
