I used Private Internet Access for years. I've used Proton VPN for the last couple of years. Very happy with both.

I'm using Surfshark but I only use it on individual devices, not my entire home network. I also have Wireguard set up on my gateway so I can VPN into my home network when needed. Mainly when traveling out of the US and I want to access local news and streaming sites.

alternate dns servers. quad9, nextdns, cleanbrowsing, controlid
vpn have a purpose, but they do not make you more "secure" |
