Yup, welcome to the government. If you have a clearance and a pulse there's a spot for you, and someone else to pick up the slack.

Or the person who thinks their helping and starts 400 new projects and doesn't finish any leaving you to finish everything

Hi, it's me, the right side!

Just kidding. Well, depends on the day.

If it bugs you, get a job where each paycheck is dependant on your effort I.E. sales.

FWIW I like to think the right side doesn't last long...of course, that all depends on management.

Not really.

Our sales people are paid linearly with performance with no cap. You can make $500k+ in that role and several do.

Our inside people that outperform get good raises, bonuses, and advancement in the organization.

EVERY-FUCKING-DAY. Lazy motherfuckers who just want to stand around and bullshit with each other or fuck around on their phones. They're all the same. Immediately camp-out the easiest job on the crew at shift start, take a 20-minute shit break before the first break of the day, take an extra 5-10 minutes on all other breaks, disappear 5-10 minutes before shift end.

I'll probably stroke-out from having to deal with it eventually.

It's also why I stopped going "above and beyond" a long fucking time ago.

Before being self employed, yes. The worst offending places were always publicly held companies with large HR departments. I dealt with DEI, before DEI was a thing. It sucked being in middle management and not having the final decision in the hiring process for those that I had to supervise. I had DEI hires thrown into jobs where they had no chance of success. The HR departments would try to blame me for their failures. Fuck. You. I documented everything to the letter.
Rant over.

This. Left my last job after seeing the same people working beside me for 10+ years and never being held accountable for their job. Had a manager that was big on data. When I showed him data showing me performing 70% of the workload between me and a coworker his first question was if I'd asked my coworker about it... That's the manager's job.

I don’t know what others make.  I have some idea for some, but what info I have is years out of date.

Yes and no.  5-8% of the people do all of the real work.  The others just sort of attend meetings.  You get paid a little more for doing all the work but it is a corporate job and socialism has a death grip on places like that.

They put an end to meritocracy so being in the 5-8% doesn't yield.  They are laying off massive numbers of people and offshoring the jobs to Ireland. They aren't making the 5-8% feel like they are going to be kept.

Complete failure at the leadership level of all the bosses calling themselves leaders while being thoroughly unaware of the difference between a boss and a leader.

John Gault is calling the best people from that zombie corp.

I am a union guy since 2000. Been with the same company the entire time. Started on the construction side for 15 years. Then maintenance and inspection out in a rural area. I know every union is different. In our situation anyone can be laid off. The guys that suck bounce from company to company when they are desperate to take anyone. They don't get the good spots and they don't have steady employment. Our union sets the minimum they can pay us. Guys that are earners negotiate more. I know of one at 20%over. Several 5-10.
I'm also going to say that our bosses/corporate people who are non union are absolutely a waste of money even if it were minimum wage. Most of them know nothing about the trade and will say/do anything to make a buck. As a skilled trade we have options.

.gov and just found out they have a new policy to stab anyone in the back and hang us out to dry for going above and beyond. Its not in my nature to say "fine, fuck you, Ill do the minimum" but they're forcing our hands lately.

Not when the new DEI hire gets an unusually high number of gravy, zero effort accounts that a middle school kid could manage. Then HR is patting themselves on the back as their golden child finds immediate success.

Nope.  I have two jobs:

1:  Owner & Operator of a little crane service.  I make more than everyone on the jobsite.  Of course, my expenses are also more and construction has slowed down a whole fucking lot.

So I got a part time gig.

2:  Part time meat cutter position for a company I work at for 11 years, before learning the crane stuff. 5 year hiatus, came back part time and the only person that makes more than me is the meat dept. manager.   Cumulatively I have more experience than everybody else back there (including the manager.)

I used to be paid a premium as a lead since I did way more work including some non defined tasks.
The last  contract they increased everyone else with my job description and left me where I was basically paying everyone the same.
I stopped doing the extra tasks and it feels good.

I retired and left the workplace 25 years ago and am so damn glad I don't have to put up with all the bull crap that must be going on in today's work environment.  I really feel for you guys who have to deal with this on a daily basis as I did.  All I can say is "Hang In There".... retirement is definitely better after dealing with all that.
