Howdy All,
I want to get my 14 year old daughter in the snow so we're headed your way January 2nd-6th. We'll be staying in the Twin Mountain area. A request for you NH folks: snow reports? When is first snow? How much accumulation is on the ground? Thanks guys, CMOS |

Sortof near Twin. A couple towns west ish at about 1100'.
Have had snow cover since before Thanksgiving. Only two events where I had to clear my driveway though. Probably had 5 or 6 inches of packed snow on the ground since early December. Then yesterday happened and it became summer with summer rain. Now I just have patchy snow on the ground. So that's the bad news. Good news is you're not coming for awhile and there is plenty of time for it to snow. The area ski resorts are open. At least Bretton Woods and Cannon. |

I'm at about 900' and after yesterday (Hanover/Lebanon area on the west side) we have zero snow. It'll likely snow before you get here though. And if not, ski areas will make snow so y'all can go skiing if nothing else.

We're not going to ski but I have planned: Gondola ride to top of Loon Mountain Resort, Train ride around Mount Washington, and Snowmobiling at Woodwards White Mountain Resort.
I damn sure hope there is snow! CMOS |

Im about 35 ish minutes from Twin North East
We have had snow since before thanksgiving, with one good storm actually requiring removal(I think we got about 12" or so in one wack). It rained a ton Monday and it melted off, along with all the snowmelt off the mountains we had a lot of flooding and road damage......so bad my Wife got Stranded in Bethel, ME and couldn't make it home for 24+ hours. We should have snow coverage soon, BUT if you plan on renting a snow-machine you may have trail closures due to storm damage...especially if you rent one out of of Gorham, NH. |

Thanks for the update.
Keep them coming. CMOS |

It should be at least partially open by the time you get here, but heads up on the rt 302 closure and the detours.
Paywall removed link: https://archive.ph/uKNVh Click To View Spoiler HART’S LOCATION — For the third time in a dozen years, U.S. Route 302 will be closed for an extended period to repair damage caused by stormwaters, requiring motorists to detour nearly 50 miles to get from Glen to Twin Mountain.
Tim Boodey, administrator of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation’s Bridge Maintenance Bureau, said the road — one of the few east-west routes in the North Country — could have one lane opened in a week and a half, in a best-case scenario. He estimated it could take up to two weeks to open both lanes. “We don’t normally see the back of the abutment or the wing (a structural element of a bridge),” he said, but everyone who was in Crawford Notch on Wednesday got to see both. Boodey said the plan was to fill 1,500 sandbags and bring them down into Bemis Brook to create coffer dams around the two abutments, each of which was “partially undermined” when the brook, swollen by several inches of rain, overflowed Monday. The flooding occurred a short distance east of the Arethusa Falls trailhead parking lot. The road has had its share of weather-related misfortunes. On Aug. 29, 2011, Tropical Storm Irene took out the Sawyer River bridge, about a mile further east on Route 302. On Oct. 29, 2017, a storm severely eroded the Dry River Bridge on Route 302 west of the Arethusa Falls trailhead parking lot, and the road was closed for several days. On Wednesday, NHDOT published a detour for drivers who would normally drive the full route between Twin Mountain and Glen. The detour, about 47 miles, uses Route 16, U.S. Route 2 and Route 115 and loops north of the Presidential Range. From the west, Route 302 remains open from Twin Mountain to the entrance to Crawford Notch State Park. From the east, the road is open from Glen to the Hart’s Location town offices. Both the Omni Mount Washington Hotel and the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Highland Center, which are in the Bretton Woods section of Carroll, were open Wednesday, though hotel visitors had to use the Base Road entrance. Boodey said the Bemis Brook floodwaters receded “fairly quickly,” but repairs will take a while. “We’re being careful,” he said, “It’s icy.” |

We spent about two and a half hours just meeting each dog individually. There were only two dogs there (out of 50+) that we couldn't have our toddler go up to. They are some really happy dogs. We also kept the toddler away from the momma dog with her puppies, because they were only a few days old. The staff are a really nice group of people, too. |

Guys,
It appears there is no snow in the forecast for the next 10 days. If we were to drive North a bit, could we get in some snow? This whole trip was planned to get my daughter in the snow so I'm wondering about canceling. ? CMOS |

There isn't a whole lot more north to go and still be in the USA.
Do a search for snow cover map and see for yourself. Snow cover is pretty sparse here right now. |

I only have a heavy dusting on my place now. A bit more than that further up the hill from me, but still not as much as there should be. Just finally dipped back below freezing here today after several days above. Hope it stays cool. Towns were doing all their mud season warnings about rutting up gravel and dirt roads. |

That map puts me in the 6-8. We're around 1000' asl and tend to get more than the river valley bottomland. I don't really gaf about the snow but the wind could be an issue tonight.
