Maybe it’s something in your kit. Maybe it’s a tool or knife. Not necessarily attached to BCD.
What is the one little thing you’re always glad to have, rarely need, but Is necessary when you do need it? Or… just something you always carry that’s somewhat uncommon? Context is stuff other than “should have” such as a marker buoy. As an example, I keep a knipex plier-wrench in my boat bag, as well as Allen keys for the usual sizes found on regulators. O-ring kit. Extra charging cable with battery bank for phone and dive watch. Food grade silicone because beard. Etc. |

1/2" wide x 1/8" thick x 10" long rubber strap in my BC pocket. Comes in handy as an emergency mask or fin strap.
Had to use it exactly 1 time, but was damn glad I had it- mask strap broke and it was a looonnnggg swim back to shore; holding the mask with one hand while swimming woulda sucked. |

SMB and an extra reel. I dive the same plate for everything. I take a fair amount of stuff off for vacation reef dives, but I leave that reel on.
