I've been using an X300 on my rifle, and wanted an upgrade. I found a surefire scout on the EE for a good price, but it seems really dim compared to the x300.
The body says surefire scout light, A88188.
The head says KX2C. I'd like a decent amount of brightness as I plan to take a few low light courses with this set up. Any recommendations that don't cost as much as a new light?

That head is olddd and as such, has quite a bit less output than newer stuff.

What’s your budget?  There are a lot of options out there, but “less than a new light” isn’t very descriptive.

The price is more just determining if I get it in 2 weeks or next month. There's just a lot of options I'm seeing and I don't really know the differences

Current hotness is the cloud defensive offerings and modlite offerings. I dont know much about the surefire turbo series of rifle lights, but im sure they're solid too. Again, budget is the determining factor here.

Are any of the cloud defensive or modlite heads compatible with the scout? So, I can just look and grab something in my budget, or are certain heads only for certain lights?

Cloud Defensive is only compatible with their own stuff.

If you have a standard CR123 Scout body (NOT Dual Fuel), Modlite Legacy heads will work.  Most Arisaka/Malkoff heads will as well.  Both are high quality heads with very good output.

FWIW the KX2C gives 200 lumens.

Sign up for the email discount at Malkoff or buy a Malkoff/Arisaka head at Arisaka at the next holiday when they're 10% off or buy a newer generation, used Surefire head from the EE, eBay, Tacswap, etc.
