Thnaks Templar for illustrating that "basic" procedure.

This should be a sticky (or whatever you call it).

You know, the main reason I do not have a sling on my rifle is that it will kill me when the snaphook will wear the paint off the front swivel.

I know- once it is all over it will be painless, but d**n!

I have a leather sling that came with my Romanian WASR-10 and the snap and D ring will not go through the buckle. Is there a trick to getting them to go through???

I wear throw mine over my neck:

This gives you incredibly fast response to pop ups, signal drills...its also comfortable and gives you positioning similar to single and three point slings.

The sling isn't only for carrying, it's mainly for stability whilst shooting.

You'll need to adjust the sling to be pretty short.

I wear my sling long. Best for quick popups and bump firing.

Hey Rugger: Those new green slings that come with the WASR's from Century are way too short. You gotta try an East German blueish-gray sling or an original Russian AK sling. The popup shots are much better and you have a better stance and balance while bump firing.

Templar,

Thanks for the pictures and info. I agree this should be in the FAQ's. I need to get a longer sling.  Nice FAL !

How do you use the sling?  I have seen M1907 slings cinch around a shooter's support arm biceps muscle, which I understand is the proper way to employ that sling, but how does the AK sling work?  Pics?

I hear what you're saying about the snap hook. Here's what I did on my SA85M: I got the snap hook off the D-ring and threaded a leather sling end for an SKS through the D-ring and front sling loop. It was hard getting the leather strap through that little sling loop but it can be done. This gives you a silent, non-marring sling attachment. I may do the same thing on the Polish sling I just got for my AMD.

New guy here but I put automotive heat shrink tubing on the hook then heated it with a blow dryer or heat gun, no noise, no scratch. I'm not shure how long it will last though.
